Philippines Bacolod Mission

2017.06.26 Thanks Fam!!!!

Dear Family and Friends!!!

So just a few things I forgot in the last email... The last pictures I sent of the kids holding school supplies is only two of the 6 kids that we bought school supplies for! It was amazing to see there faces when they opened up there school supplies. Thanks Mom and Dad for the help with that! Because of you guys they were able to enter school some for the very first time because now they had met school requirements. They are loving school and are excited for the rest of the year and to one day serve a mission...  :) Also last time I sent a picture with a birthday cake it was Brother Gian Magbanuas 13th birthday and we bought him a birthday cake. Oh boy was that so fun to see the family so excited!!! After they ate their piece they started to cut more of the cake and took it to all their neighbors! It was so amazing seeing how they wanted all to experience what they had experienced! People are so genuine here in the Philippines it's so nice to see. Well the pictures ill be sending today is Sister De leon, Brother Angelo and I cutting kawayan [bamboo] because we have started a project were we are helping to build a house :) It has been so great because most of our RCs have come togther to build and work on this house. So we really just help when we find we have extra time on our hands :) But thanks again Mom and Dad for the help haha. It has been a work in progress because I need money to survive haha. I really love Sant Fe area, it has been a huge blessing in my life. I have learned so much here from the people.   As for Concepcion it has been amazing to see their faith growing every week! We have just now been teaching this family who are very strong Bible believers. I think I mentioned it in my last email, but oh boy has it been so fun reading the Old Testament and expanding my knowledge with my companion. I love the stories in the Old Testament it reminds me of the Bible videos I use to watch with Katie every Sunday when we were younger. Now... I actually understand the stories haha!
Well, another thing that happened this week.... I made chocolate cookies and I couldn't convince myself to actually eat them when I was done, so I just gave them all away... It made me really homesick for some reason.
Well, I love you guys!!! I hope you all have a wonderful week!!!! :)

2017.06.19 Sup fam? Well I am still alive!

Hello Family and Friends!

Well... I am still alive! :) These past couple of months have been pretty crazy and I have just been trying to balance eveything out. I know I havent been very good about writing but here you go. The past two Baptisms Sister Annie and Brother Hazel have both come from Concepcion and you can read about their Conversion down below :) Concepcion has been amazing! Even though we weren't able to go there this week we still had 8 Investigators come to church on their own. It was amazing. My companion and I have been working really hard with Concepcion and I wouldn't be suprized if the whole compound ended up getting baptized by the end of this year. :) They are all so amazing. They have really pushed me with my studies though because a lot of them are Bible Believers which is their religion. About 20 years ago an American came as a missiony as a Bible Believer and so they all converted to that religion. Now the American they said didn't speak Hiligaynon so he had a translater so they are very impressed with me during the lessons because I didn't have a translator (Alma 29: 8) . :) Which is fun. Anyway, the Bible believers have a strong faith and knowledge in the OLD testament.It's has been very fun to explain that we can actually tie a knot on the Sabbath with both hands haha for those that know that Law of Moses and all the silly Laws that they had to follow back in the day. So anyways, it has been fun to do my studies on why they don't need to follow them by using the New Testament. It's very fun and rewarding to see how they actually now understand the Bible and which Laws are for us today. Yes, we believe both the Old Testament and the NEW testament, where if we read the New testament we will find the understanding of how Jesus nagtuman (Hebrews 10:8-10; 20) Basta Its been fun for me to see how true this church is. If we read the Scriptures we will understand what is right (John 5:39
As for me and my companion we are great. She's like my best friend. Of course we have our ups and downs but I wouldn't want anyones else by my side. I really know our President is called of God because I have been truly blessed with my companions. I have learned something new from all of them. Even if it's me suppose to be training them, half the time it's them training me. I love what people can teach us. They all have differents things that they have learned in their lives that we can all learn from. One of my favorite quotes is:Image result for it takes a wise man to learn from his mistakes but an even wiser man to learn from others

It really is true :)
Ummmm. Well... we had FHE  last night at the Tamba family for the first time. It was super cool to see their family come together...here are some pics... enjoy :)

Shout out to Andrew (Happy Fathers Day) Future pappi!!!
Kag Shout out to Katie I Love You Beautiful!

<Mike's Note>
Sis. Garrish has been in the hospital.  She has been very sick, and went to the hospital. She was diagnosed with Dengue fever. They said that they caught and treated it early so she will be okay.  She goes back to the hospital  tomorrow to be checked again. Please keep Sis. Garrish in your prayers that she will overcome this trial and not have any lasting effects from this illness.

Mayo Clinic - Dengue (DENG-gey) fever is a mosquito-borne disease that occurs in tropical and subtropical areas of the world. Mild dengue fever causes high fever, rash, and muscle and joint pain. A severe form of dengue fever, also called dengue hemorrhagic fever, can cause severe bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure (shock) and death.
